In a moment of high recognition and celebration, the Chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club, Coach John Obuh, has been honoured with the prestigious “Champion of Democracy” award by Family Love FM, one of Abia State’s leading radio stations.

The award was presented as part of a special event recognizing notable Nigerians who have made significant contributions to the advancement of democracy and human capital development in the state and across Nigeria.

Coach Obuh, who made history as the first football adminstrator from Abia State to win a continental slot for Abia Warriors, was praised for his achievements both on and off the pitch. His legacy as a former coach of Nigeria’s U-17 and U-20 national teams continues to inspire a generation of young Nigerians.

The event, held at Family Love FM’s studio in Umuahia, featured a live broadcast of the award citations and a panel discussion on Obuh’s contributions, led by OAP Monday Ogbonyemi (MC Totori) alongside representatives from Abia Warriors, Mr. Igwe Solomon and Mr. Igwe Onuoha.

Receiving the award on behalf of Obuh, Mr. Solomon Igwe thanked the organisers for the honour and reaffirmed the chairman’s continued commitment to democratic values, youth empowerment, and sporting excellence.

Through his representatives, the Chairman expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Abia State Government for their exceptional support to the club.

“I extend sincere thanks to the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Ikechukwu Emetu, and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba, for their unprecedented support to Abia Warriors Football Club, noting that their impacts have made the difference.”
